To Reach the Fence

Taken from the edge of the coveted path between fences. The fence on the right defines the bounds where the camp inmates were. Even if they managed to get past the first fence, there was a second before they got to the German's section. But even if they reached the first fence, if they touched it, they would be fried by the electricity.

There were many Jews who chose that death, or the death that came from being shot trying to run at the fence, over continuing to live in Auschwitz.
